One of our ongoing research initiatives includes the importance of sulphur and the benefits it offers farmers. In 2024 our data showed that both soil and grain sulphur levels are dropping. This is helping us understand if we need to revise the standard RB209 approach for better results.
OMEX Nitrogen and Sulphur Trials
This year we’re continuing our Nitrogen and Sulphur trials, the following trial is on our dedicated research facility; Heckington light land demo site. We also have replicated trials on heavier land in Fincham, Norfolk.
The Heckington trial pictures is of 5 different nitrogen rates (0, 120, 180, 240, 300 kg/ha) with (1) No sulphur – (30N), (2) standard sulphur – (24S) or (3) higher sulphur – (24S) to see the response to different nitrogen and sulphur combinations, following on from the very high responses to sulphur fertiliser in 2024 and data showing that soil and grain sulphur levels are dropping.
The picture was taken during last weeks drought weather and results of no nitrogen and sulphur are clear to see.
