Mildews and Blights

OMEX’s Darren Tongue takes a look at how Mildew and Blight affect your plant growth, and how to tackle the issue:

“Powdery mildew is a fungal disease that affects a wide range of crops. Powdery mildew diseases are caused by many different species of fungi and is seen in environments with low humidity and moderate temperatures.

It is important to be aware of powdery mildew and its management as the resulting diseases can significantly reduce crop yield. Downy mildew is also associated with yield loss most likely related to soft rots.

Blight is a rapid and complete chlorosis, browning, then death of plant tissue. Accordingly many diseases that primarily exhibit this symptom are called blights. Several notable examples are caused by the water mould Phytophthora infestans. It is well known that animals in the peak of health are more able to withstand and recover from disease infection. The same applies to plants. Regular targeted applications of the following OMEX products can help alleviate these symptoms as part of an intergrated management system

K50

K50 is based on potassium carbonate. The very high concentration of potassium in the formulation means K50 provides a boost to plant health, enabling the plant to withstand external pressures.

Sulphomex

Sulphomex is a clear solution containing Sulphur and Nitrogen.
Sulphur can be effective as a plant health promoter to assist the plant in common pressures.

Zynergy

Zynergy is a unique formulation of copper, zinc and sulphur, complimenting in a synergistic fashion the fungicidal and bactericidal activity of crop protection applications, creating a strong healthy plant, able to reach its full yield potential.
